Requirements to start as a Candidate Appraiser:

At a minimum, the following steps are required before a working relationship can begin:

  1. Obtain a valid license with the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) - Cost is $1,200 for initial course and approximately $500 per year to retain a valid license (see www.reca.ca for details)
  2. Complete BUSI 330 Online Course through UBC, Sauder School of Business, Real Estate Division  - Cost is approximately $500 (see www.sauder.ubc.ca for details)
  3. Become a candidate member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada (see www.aicanada.ca or call 403.207.7892 for details)
  4. Attend an AIC ethics seminar in Alberta
  5. Must have a Windows-based laptop or desktop to run software for appraisal reports.
